Skippack Township

Skippack Township

When the "Township of Skippack and Perkioming" was divided along the Perkiomen Creek, Skippack Township was created from the land on the east bank of the creek. The area was mostly Mennonite farms at first, however today there are less farms on smaller lots of land. There are still some businesses that serve and provide jobs for the community, but the township is changing into a residential town as more homes are built while less businesses remain. Skippack Village is considered the center of town and is the only village in the township other than Creamery.

Recreation

Recreation areas include a private picnic park, and a significant area of Evansburg State Park is located in the township. Little League sports are available, however each community has a different provider.

Public Transportation

Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) rail lines do not serve any portion of the township, however, a SEPTA does provide a bus route to the Gratersford State Correctional Institute located in the middle of the township.

Shopping

Skippack Village is a congregation of specialty and unique shops in a nineteenth-century setting. Here you will find contains small craft and antique shops, as well as activities from the community's past.The cloasest modern shopping areas are the Court and Plaza at King of Prussia and the Montgomery Mall.

Public Services

Most of the township has access to public water and sewer facilities. Police services is provided by the Pennsylvania State Police, while fire protection is provided by volunteer organizations. Residential waste management is provided by private contractors.
