Gwynedd Township
Gwynedd Township is split into two separate divisions in Montgomery County. The two areas are Upper Gwynedd, and Lower Gwynedd. These two townships have been independant since December 16th, 1891.
Lower Gwynedd
The actual area of the township in square miles has not differed since its creation. In the heart of the township, you'll find the villages of Gwynedd, Gwynedd Valley, Penllyn, and Spring House. The township did not change much until the 1950s, however, now townhouse and single family homes have significantly increased supported by large employers that provide jobs and services to the community.
Upper Gwynedd
Centered around a major transportation route called Sumneytown Pike Upper Gwynedd grew from the hotels, merchants, and taverns that were established along the road. The township was mainly an agricultural community until after World War II when homes, and businesses became more prevalent in the area. Upper Gwynedd has increased 30% in population since the 1980's.
Note: Also, some residents and businesses may have a Lansdale or North Wales mailing address.
